Summer Wines
Given the weather we have had this week we are going to be optimistic and present three wines perfect for spring/summer drinking. You might notice that there are no red wines today but please don't let that stop you. All three of these are delicious.
We are also pleased to welcome, for a one day guest appearance, former employee Susie Curnutte. I hope you can stop by, say hi and taste some wine.
2010 Pollerhoff Grüner Veltliner -Austria $11.99 1Liter
There are several liter size grüners on the market but none with as cool a label and none withe the character of this wine in this price range. Not only is grüner an incredibly versatile wine with a wide variety of food the liter size makes this the perfect party wine.
2010 Christophe Thorigny Vouvray Sec -France $13.99
Sec means dry and this is a truly dry, beautiful chenin blanc from the Loire Valley. It’s full of crisp, green apple fruit, has a beautiful texture and surprising length of flavor. It is truly rare to find a Vouvray of this quality at such a great price.
2011 Rousseau Frēres Touraine Noble Joué Rose -France $17.99
There is a reason we pour so many wines from the Loire Valley; they are delicious and well-priced and very easy to drink. This rosé, made from 50% pinot meunière, 35% pinot Gris and 15% pinot noir has been a favorite for several vintages and this one does nothing to change that. There are aromas of white peaches, a softer mouth feel than many rosés and a drinkability that is unique even amongst all the other easy to drink rosés on the Market.
